A Pawsitive Encounter: A Canine’s Joyful Meeting with Needy Kittens at the Shelter

Two kittens were brought to a rescue center in need of assistance and some tender loving care. They were introduced to a friendly dog who knew exactly how to lift their spirits.

Joyce @kangaroothekitty shared a heartwarming story about Amber Rose, the founder of Saving Grace Rescue, who was on a mission to find kittens in need of care at the San Jose Animal Care Center and Services. During her search, she stumbled upon two sisters with crusty eyes.

These two kittens were discovered as strays and brought to the shelter just a few weeks ago. Despite being around three weeks old, they were underweight, infested with fleas, and suffering from an upper respiratory infection. They were the only remaining kittens in need of rescue at that time, so Amber and her dedicated team of volunteers wasted no time in stepping in to help.

Joyce, a volunteer for Saving Grace Rescue, recently took in two adorable kittens and named them Coco and Puff. The dynamic sister duo had some health issues but were getting the best care possible in their foster home. With lots of love, attention, and tasty food, these kitties were on the road to recovery and starting to show their playful personalities once again.

All cleaned up and happy to be snuggled, the cats at Kangaroo the Kitty cat rescue showed their gratitude by meowing loudly when mealtime arrived. One particular cat, Coco, a black cat with white paws, was especially vocal and insistent when it came to her food. “She is loud and always hungry. She’s very opinionated,” Joyce, a volunteer at the rescue, told Love Meow.

Her sister Puff (tabby) would observe Coco venture out into the house and attempt to imitate her every move. “She may be more laid-back, but she’s incredibly intelligent. She’s even mastered using the litter robot.”
The kittens became more comfortable around their owners and developed a deep fondness for their presence. They were filled with curiosity and energy, always on the lookout for new friends to play and cuddle with.

Coco, the bold chatterbox, decided to explore the area making friends with everyone, while her sister followed closely behind. Meanwhile, there was another foster in the household who was just as eager to greet them.
Two months before the kittens came, Joyce took in a rescue dog named Chobani. The 2-3 year-old terrier mix was found outside while she was pregnant.

Chobani, also known as Joyce @kangaroothekitty, had successfully raised her puppies with assistance from HDBQ Rescue and was now searching for her own new home. When she heard the kittens meowing, her eyes sparkled with excitement and her maternal instincts kicked in. She couldn’t wait to see the babies and shower them with love as if they were her own.

Chobani instantly fell in love with the kittens as soon as she met them.
Joyce, who goes by @kangaroothekitty on social media, shared, “She couldn’t resist and wanted to give them lots of cuddles and licks.”
When the time came for the introduction, Chobani eagerly welcomed the kittens by showering them with kisses and grooming them like a caring mother would.

Coco immediately hit it off with Chobani and decided they would spend more time together. Coco, the more adventurous one, showed affection towards Chobani and snuggled up against her. Whenever Chobani is around, Coco will hop off the couch to join her. She will give some head bumps before curling up in her arms or lounging next to her. Puff, not wanting to be left out, will also join in on the cuddle session.

When Chobani lays down on her side, both kittens will snuggle up to her belly and start soothing her with gentle kneading and purring up a storm. Chobani has embraced her new role as their surrogate mother, giving them comfort and acting as their cozy pillow to lay on.

Coco and Puff have taken on the role of comforting Chobani, who welcomed their presence with happiness. From being sickly kittens, Coco and Puff have bounced back and are now thriving in terms of their size, strength, and confidence. Their foster family has shown them love and care, preparing them for their forever home, while their sweet feline mama attends to their every need.
